I am a science illustrator who specializes in ecology, climate, and earth science. My work has appeared in Scientific American, Smithsonian, and Taproot Magazine, among other publications. My practice is informed by field experience and scientific expeditions, where field sketching facilitates direct observation of the environment. Back in the studio, I create explanatory graphics to amplify communication in publications such as papers, articles, and presentations. I’m currently based out of Anchorage, Alaska.

  • I transform complex scientific concepts into visuals for illustrative storytelling. I work across a wide range of scientific topics, from large-scale processes to species relationships and more. I create vivid and accurate illustrations that captivate audiences and enhance public outreach and the understanding of scientific concepts.

  • Elevate research in publications and presentations with professionally designed graphics. I produce clear and informative diagrams that effectively communicate scientific abstracts, methods, and results, making them accessible to both scientific and general audiences.

  • As a field artist, I accompany researchers on scientific expeditions to explore the landscape and document discoveries through painting and nature journaling. This firsthand experience informs my illustration process, enabling me to convey the narrative of research in post-field publications and media. I have extensive experience with backcountry travel, wilderness safety, and data-collection methods. Consider funding an artist collaboration when applying for research grants.

  • Enhance visuals for scientific publications with creative consulting. Whether you need assistance in developing a visual strategy for a research project or are seeking innovative ways to communicate complex ideas, I provide tailored guidance to ensure visuals effectively & efficiently tell your story.
