Trends in Terrestrial Biodiversity
CSUMB Science Illustration Program, 2023
In this project for the CSUMB Science Illustration Program, I wanted to combine two common ecological concepts into one data graphic to encourage a holistic view of biodiversity patterns. The first concept categorizes terrestrial biomes by precipitation amounts and climate zones/annual temperatures. The second concept is the correlation between precipitation and increased biodiversity. Combined into a three-dimensional space, connections can be drawn between both concepts.
This project had a long development stage where I explored different ways of displaying the information before finalizing the layout. The time spent in this stage was crucial for creating an effective graphic.
